Santa Fe Chiles Track Club

The Santa Fe Chiles Track Club is a new youth program within the Santa Fe Striders Running Club.

The Chiles was established for youth to experience joy through physical activity, develop self-confidence, social skills, and participate in spirited competition. The cool thing about the Chiles is that everyone practices and can compete – No child is left on a bench! Practices occur twice per week at Capital High School’s track beginning in May 2027. Track and field meets in Albuquerque lead to state, regional, and national USATF Junior Olympic competitions for qualified Chiles.

The Chiles is the only USATF-affiliated youth track and field club within 45 miles of Santa Fe. We project 75 Chiles members ages 8-18 years for 2027. Club coaches, volunteers, and family members comprise more than 400 individuals for sponsors to engage with throughout the season. Three USATF developmental meets in Albuquerque each attract 100 young athletes and a captive, active audience of family and friends totaling 200 more.

The Chiles holds practices and enters competitions from May to mid-July. Cross country practices and competitions may be offered in the Fall for elementary school children.

The Chiles welcomes all children between the ages of 8 and 18 years of age who would like to participate. A positive attitude and willingness to participate and follow rules to stay safe and have fun are the requirements. Along with track and field practices and fun mini meets the club will offer advanced programming for young athletes. Early season track and field meets in Albuquerque may lead to state, regional, and national competitions.

Our club is built upon the foundations of: Movement. Trust. Community. Belonging. Fun. Sportsmanship. Local leadership.
